First victory on the season for Depor Ladies. A brace by Peke paved the way for a dramatic game that was 2-1 at half-time.

Coach Manu Sánchez lost goalkeeper Ester Sullastres, who missed the game due to a shoulder injury. Jessica Carro from the B squad was picked in order to fill up the gap. Kenni Thompson also missed the game due to a new muscle problem. The coach repeated the lineup of the last game, which included the trident Gaby, Peke and Athenea del Castillo in attack.

A game with two very different halves. In the first Depor Ladies was a nervous team that almost conceded three goals, in the second it was the joyful team of last season that wiped out a rival that was totally surpassed.

The game couldn’t start better for Depor Ladies, because the visiting side found a goal after only fifty seconds. The scorer was Peke as she ended the first attack of the team in the game. For the first time on the season, Depor Ladies had the advantage in the scoresheet.

But the advantage didn’t last, actually SD Eibar turned the score in only twenty minutes.  First, after the chances for Thembi Kgatlana (4’) and Esti Aizpurua (7’), Sara Navarro was going to tie the actions after capitalizing a pass from Thembi. Then Thembi appeared again and assisted Mar Torras, who scored from close range.

Apart from the initial play, it was another poor first half for the ladies. The team wasn’t having presence in attack and the cracks in the defence made the third goal from SD Eibar looking closer. That goal didn’t arrive, but only because the locals reduced the pace for the final fifteen minutes.

Things were very different in the second half, though the game was following the same path of the first part. Once again Depor Ladies scored the first goal in the half. Gaby netted the goal after heading a cross from the left, and then SD Eibar started to push as it happened in the first half.

The first opportunity was a header of Llompart in a lateral free-kick that missed the target (57’). But the similarities with the first part ended there, because Depor Ladies turned to be an offensive team that was going to score two more goals, the first netted by Peke in a counterattack and later Alba Merino sealed the victory from the penalty spot after a foul committed over Athenea.

SD Eibar didn’t react until the added time, and it was to see defender Nerea Gantxegi meeting the woodwork in a direct free-kick (90+1’). Manu Sánchez kept the starting formation until the final minutes, time when Michelle Romero and Helena Torres refreshed the attack replacing Athenea and Peke
