Yesterday's training was postponed for a few hours and several rumours started to flow. Apparently the fires affecting Galicia were the cause of this delay, but later it was speculated that the delay was the product of a huge fight between Caparr??s and Scaloni. At the end the Sevillan coach informed that he postponed the session just because his men were tired, an explanation that didn't satisfy the criteria of the reporters at Abegondo.

Valer??n travelled to La Coru?a after going through surgery in Madrid. Now, He will start the rehabilitation process. Steps that have already been taken by Juanma and Andrade who are advancing in their cases. The other injured players (Taborda, Duscher and Bodipo) are still willing to join the squad on Friday.

Valer�n's new injury has worried Deportivo's fans around the world. The confrontation against Benfica was the second match for him after the serious injured he suffered last January whilst playing at the Riazor. All reports and claims that have been made are pointing towards a cartilage injury (Meniscus). A problem that could leave him out of action for the next 6-8 weeks (2months). But it's too early to make conclusions. New exams in Madrid will determine the exact magnitude of the injury.

Valer�n's injury is more serious than everybody was expecting. The player flew to Madrid and after the medical scan, the diagnosis was known: an injury in the peripheral zone of his left knee's meniscus plus a rupture in the ligament. The Canarian went through surgery and it's expected that he will be out of action for the next four months.

Today Depor will play a friendly match against Benfica (22h15) which will be the first serious test for Caparr�s' squad and a new opportunity to see the progress of the new signings. In the meantime, the squad has continued to work in Isla Canela. Also, the name of the fourth contender in the Teresa Herrera was finally revealed.

Deportivo will play the first friendly of the pre-season today (21h30). The rival is San Roque de Lepe, a local team that will be used in order to obtain the first conclusions in this new season. So far the only serious casualty is Bodipo who will have to rest during the next two days.

Deportivo started the pre-season stage in Isla Canela on Saturday. This beach region in Andalucia was selected by Caparr�s himself since he did similar stages when he was Sevilla's coach. This concentration is important and could determine several decisions that Depor's coach needs to take in order to face the new season.<
