Deportivo B striker DEUS was one of four young attacking talents who made their debut with Deportivo in the Primera División but in the end didn’t make it at the club. Like David Fernández, Maikel and Carlos he experienced several loan deals and ended up going club by club.

Laussane-born Deus had become European Champions with a Spanish youth team and he would participate with Spain at the sub-20 tournament in Malaysia (1997). Considered a good talent he was given his first opportunity in the Liga under coach John Toshack. It concerned a 1-1 draw at Celta de Vigo and Deus replaced Madar. He would be given five other entrances during the season and started one match: on 13 October, 1996 during a late 0-1 win at Oviedo. Deus scored a total of ten goals with Deportivo B that season.

But the presence of the other youngsters and the signing of Bassir and Luizão in the summer of 1997 caused much rivalry at the club for twenty-year old Deus. During the season 1997/1998 he was given one hour of playing time divided over five matches; not enough to display his qualities to coaches Carlos Alberto Silva and Corral.

With the arrival of the duo Pauleta/’Turu’ Flores in 1998 the competition only increased, while Irureta never has been too fond on the Deportivo B team, and fast Deus agreed on a loan deal with Hércules de Alicante in the Segunda División. Although his club were relegated it wasn’t a bad season as he played his first match with the sub-21 team of Spain. He played the season 1999/2000 on loan at Racing de Ferrol when his contract with Deportivo expired and he was a free man. Since then Deus has played at four different clubs: Sporting Braga, Gimnàstic de Tarragona, Xérez and Salamanca.
