Liverpool agree fee with Aston Villa in the region of £20-22m for Stewart Downing All that is left is the player to agree personal terms and to pass the medicals.

i agree with that in the aspect of effort.. Downing's crossing, and his run through the wings are excellent.. he just dont have the same intensity everytime..

So far Frank Arnesen has done a good job in HSV. Mancienne, Tore, Bruma and Skjelbred could all become great players.

He has been the second choice in Roma for 2 years so the situation has not changed for him. Actually he might play more matches because Liverpool does have more matches to play than Roma. So it is really not that difficult to understand.

I never understood why he didn't end up at a bigger club earlier in his career. He's certainly one of the best goalkeepers the Premiership has seen in the last 10 years. Arsenal should have closed his transfer 6 or 7 years ago, but they failed to lure him away from St James' Park.

Nice that Friedel left, to get some rest
He had been playing more than 5 years in a row, without losing a game! A monster!!
