I think Valeron is key factor of this victory .... wherever he is... on bench or in the pitch... we are always lucky with him. Hopefully Lotina call him again in squad in next games.....

Fantastic win. We're really starting to look like a team again. Solid defense AND better chances on goal!

Any news about Guardado's injury? I herd hes been scratched for the USA - Mexico friendly this week.

Given the circumstances of this season, we couldn't have asked for better in this Betis match.

First, the opponent. Let's remind ourselves that Betis, with Valladolid, has been one of the best performing teams in the past 2 months in Primera. They have a good squad, more or less of the same qualities as Depor (but DepHun disagrees with me here...). The difference is that they have some natural (and experienced) strikers with Pavone, Edu and Sobis. Their confidence was high after their recent results.

But we've beaten them in their own stadium, and it was deserved. In fact, the score could have been 0-2 or 0-3. Over 90 mins, this Betis team hardly created anything. They not even could encircle us in the last phase of the match; it always seemed that Depor would score the second goal of the match. I bet the amount of duals won was in the advantage of Deportivo.

Although our attacking play wasn't impressive, we still created a handful of enormous chances to score goals. Remember that none of our goalscorers (Guardado, Xisco, Riki) played a full match (Riki didn't even play) and that our dreamed-of attacking trio Valeron-Guardado-Wilhelmsson hardly played (only Guardado for a few mins). Having still created what we did is a very good achievement.

Despite the 5 defenders which were lined-up, I don't think we displayed a negative image. We had a good passing game. I vividly remember our Betis match of last year when we tried to win it with rough football and launching Arizmendi/Estoyanoff.

I'd say decent, although not spectacular at all. Helped to maintain the solid defense, and made a good professional freekick, that was quite vital. He was anonymous, though, but well, he did decent.

I believe it did help them, the final score would have been like a 5-0 without his excellent game

Sure, but not 5-0! But, it doesn't matters too much since 3 points are 3 points...

so.... good result, expected win (for me at least)

but it's not just thanks to our players, but also for a good part to the incompetence of Betis. In the first half we were good in playing for the result, but not creating anything, very abstract play. Once again was shown that we needed to buy the striker, but our back line almost never got into problems, and when they did, they reacted good! That's the only good thing Lotina has done, to change the formation.
Worse was Guzman's new position as he was impotent in attack (as predicted), worse was Verdu in (what the hell did he do?), and Bopido was also not the move i was waiting for.
True that we had to play without Guardado, but i can't be an excuse for everything.
Well, i have seen sure worse games by us this season, and we won, let's hope we keep improving...
