Default Asian Cup

Australia have lost 2-0 this morning to Kuwait in their Asian qualifier. The loss does not hurt Australia a lot because they are already through to the Asian Cup next year.

It does hurt a little bit becuase we could have been given a better seed the group stages...but all in all, i still believe we played poorly...

I would have been pissed off if i got up to watch it...

Australia defeated Bahrain 2-0 in Sydney tonight. I myself believe it was a poor effort from the Socceroos as they were up against the Olympic squad and also many of them were in the middle of Ramadan which may have affected their energy levels.

On the postive note; Marco Bresciano finally showed us he wasn't useless by scoring a spectacular goal! Also, how good was Wollongong boy Mile Stervjovski- in my view he was the man of the match.

Yeh i agree, Milo played well all night. He was very disciplined in his attack sector, the angle runs from the right coming into/towards the penalty was great and built immense pressure on the opposition defense.

It was a very a poor effort from the lads, they should have won by a greater margain however this victory elevates Australia to a seed status so that is my positive note on the game.

Beauchamp played solid at the back with Neill and Grella + Culina played well again.

P.S. I think something fishy is going down because Travis Dodd is enjoying alot of International minutes and this because (IMHO) John Kosmina is assistant coach, . . . It's probably just me overlooking the situation lol...

I watched the second half of the game and I thought the Aussies were just kind of going through the motions. They looked far superior to the Bahranians and with a 2 goal lead, they probably thought they could just cruise it. Chipperfield should have scored but hit an airshot and how good was that shot from Stervjovski that hit the bar. Deserved to be a goal I thought, very unlucky.
I'm surprised at the Kuwait result but all in all, I think the Aussies will do well in the Asian sector.

I'm surprised that you were able to watch the match, since when have the Socceroos matches been televised in Europe?

Eurosport had the game on. They have all kinds of games on Eurosport and they seem to pick them quite randomly. I only found it cos I was flicking through my sports channels but I've seen a few games from the Asian continent on Eurosport. There advertising is crap though so I only ever stumble across them rather than know about them in advance.

Fair enough. I can't imagine what there promotional advertisments are like, it seems likes Australia will be facing Ghana in November in an international friendly in England (not confirmed), so that could also get televised.

I think i speak on behalf of the Aussie contigent and say that you Europeans have SO MANY SPORT/FOOTBALL is HURTS!! lol
