The Asian Cup is underway with 2 matches already completed. Iraq drew with Thailand 1-1 the tournament opener while the Socceroos were held 1-1 by Oman. This is a disappointing result for the Aussies but it would've been worse had Tim Cahill not been able to saves Australia's blushes with a 90th minute opener. They can still win this tournament but they really have to pick up their game majorly. I think they'll get to the semis quite easily though.

Iraq beat 3-1 Australia tonight. I think this is the biggest upset so far in this tournament. And Iraq deserve all credits.

In another game Japan beat U.A.E. to cease any doubts after they managed to draw from qatar in first match.

Japan vs Australia tonight, World Cup replay. However, the result will be reverse. Australia will be easily defeated they aren't in good form and are in deep defensive trouble.

I'll be happy with a gutsy 2-1 defeat but i feel a 3-0 romp may be on the cards...

Anyone see S. Nakamura's right footer peach...! FREAK! Great team goal...!

ForZa Socceroos!!

The aussies lost 4-3 on penalties after the match finished 1-1. But I must say that I expected them to lose easier than what they did. A positive to be taken away from this is that at least we'll take more care in the selection and training of our squad rather than just plucking the same old players and throwing them on a pitch and hoping for the best.

Australia's maiden Asian Cup voyage is over after a Penalty Shootout defeat to Japan.

Australia scored the opener via John Aloisi, however Japan equalised straight after a defensive error (lack of communication) and Takahara slotted it in goal.At the 75th Minute mark Australia was reduced to 10 men after Vince Grella was sent off for contesting an Aerial ball with his elbow exposed.

Australia hung on but it wasn't to be...We'll be back in 3 years...!

I must say that Mark Milligan has performed extremely well in the last 2 matches from the Centre of defense and it will be long now until we see him being courted by some of the European clubs. David Carney also performed really well in the Left Wing back/ Left Defensive Mid position.

I think the champion will be the winner of Saudi-Japan semi final match! they played the best football so far along with Iraq but Iraq can beat neither of them. Best player in the tournament so far is Malek Muath Saudi's number 9.

And the Asian cup final on the 29th of this month. Saudi VS Iraq.

Saudi 3-2 Japan

Iraq won the penalty shoot outs against South Korea. This will be the best Asian final ever!

And Malek scored two goals against Japan and humiliated the Japanese defence in a few other occasions!

Iraq wins the Asian Cup!!
Before the tournament I'd say that Iraq were a long shot, however after seeing some of their games I think its no surprise that they are lifting the Cup. Big congrats to the the Iraqis!!!

They didn't play fairly though, they were rough and rude.
