From being 9 points away from safety to being 9 points away from a promotion spot: https://sportsfinding.com/deportivo-...segunda/13903/

I still think its too early to write these sort of articles calling Fernando a genius but still worth a read.

After his second appointment I had doubts that he is the right choice for us, but now I'm really happy that Vidal is keen to continue with him on board.
It is a pity he failed at the finish line, this shouldn't have happened like this way. But that is it... I hope he can quickly adopt to the new league and will leads us back immediatley to Segunda (Primera is not a possible option for the upcoming 2-3 seasons imo).

The ending is not what we wanted but FV did a good job again. The demotion is not fault of FV.

We got 33 points in 20 games with FV. Tenerife is the best team in second period of this season with 36 points. Hope FV continues next season and save us from 3rd division.

It’s crazy. I know the performance of the team is poor. But we’ve made results, only lost once.

If the board sack FV then who will be the new coach? Coaches like Anquela or Luis César? This is not the right time to sack.

False alarm. There was a meeting but he will continue.

If they’re thinking of sacking him, Who’s gonna replace him anyway ? I don’t think there are decent coaches around waiting to get a chance at segunda B. Unless FV has other issues or feeling demoralized.

This is the problem, we are literally scared of who could come in if FV is released.

Personally I feel that we are underachieving with him, yes we are second in the league, but we have been playing very poorly.
And the games we have won, have almost been lucky and not entirely deserved.

He hasn't shown belief in the Fabril players, Gandoy, Valin and Adri Castro.
Which is very strange considering how poor Boveda, Nacho, Bovi and Miku have been.

Are we that bad for real though? If you honestly look at the situation, without the emotion we hold for this club - which is strong in all of us - than we are not in that terrible a position right now.

Yes, of course, lot's to be desired by Deportivo and how they play. But if you look at the numbers - we have been undefeated most of the season besides the blip and embarrassment to Celta B. Perhaps for this alone he could be released, but that would be an emotional decision.

Currently, of the teams relegated from Segunda to Segunda B, we are the top. CD Numancia is in sixth place in subgroup B of Group I, the same position that Racing de Santander occupies in subgroup A of Group II. And Extremadura UD are seventh in the subgroup II of the Group V. All of those teams are far behind the second position occupied by Depor.

This is not an easy division, and all those folks saying we should walk through these teams are wrong. Plain and simple.

The four relegated teams were the ones picked to return back to segunda, even in the unusual format designed by the RFEF. If we maintain the consistency shown so far, we are the most likely to get promoted.

Like I said, the football displayed by Fernando Vázquez leaves a lot to be desired and has not been the brightest or much less spectacular but it has been more than effective in this division where you live for the three points and make hopefully make few mistakes.

Yea sure, but this also assumes we can find a diamond in the rough like they did and make a big gamble. With our track record on finding coaches I highly doubt this is possible. Maybe it’s better to go with what you know than what you don’t?
