wisely said.

Imo Ronald is a massive player, BUT... He keeps thinking that the whole world should care about him. After Fabregas' penalty, the camera zooms at Ronaldo, and he was seen talking his thoughts aloud.. ("Injusticia, injusticia")

Come on now, grow up!

Haha, yeah. Except the person at the supermarket probably has a valid claim.

Also, about Ronaldo. I think when the camera panned to him after Fabregas scored, he was probably annoyed with himself for not taking the 4th penalty kick. I assumed he was marked down to go last. Because of that, they're now out of the tournament. But I suppose there's no guarantee he would've scored.

And yeah, bit stupid with the Alves/Nani incident. He was already at the 18 yard box; they should've just let him take it.

Btw, feel sorry for Negredo. Poor bastard finally gets his chance but didn't play particularly well. Didn't get the best service either. I'd like to see Llorente start the final but the lack of match practice is a problem.

The problem with playing a striker now is that Spain became energized precisely when Negredo was replaced for Fabregas, and they came damn close to winning in ET. That's their best lineup, whether anyone likes it or not.

Does someone understand why Bento subbed out his good (penalty-)shooters, Meireles and Veloso at the very end of the extra-time?

Not allowed to do this. Once the order of penalty-takers is handed to the ref, it cannot be changed.

The point here is that both players messed up (i.e. they weren't listening when the coach called out the order of takers. Just another reason why players should volunteer (e.g. "I'll take penalty No. 3"). It would be almost impossible for 2 players to forget what number penalty they volunteered for then.

After pulling Silva out Spain played with no attackers at all. Not just without strikers as Torres, Negredo, LLorente, but without forwards like Silva, Mata or even Pedro. Navas is an excellent player who can send the ball into 16, but nobody is there to collect it. Then del Bosque puts Pedro on the other wing and starts playing on the wings. Again there is no one to collect the ball in the 16m area.

Spain was better in the owertime but they needed a forward in the box to win. Staring with Negredo? Why are LLorente and Mata not used? They managed so far, but either Germany or Italy will win the final if the spanish tactic doesn't change. Maybe that's the trick Del Bosque has been saving for the last game?

All 4 CB were the penalty shooters (Pique,Ramos,Pepe and Alves). That is a bit strange, don't you think?

Spain's physical testers before the tournament found that Mata was so fatigued that he was bordering on being injured. That's why he's on the sidelines. I'm only guessing that the same applies to Llorente.

i think fatigue is the main reason why spain is playing its way. And the villa-injury of course. The strategy isnt supposed to be THAT boring as it is now, but the energy is missing to make it look nicer. Xavi is almost wasted, Silva not far off, Xabi is not on his highest level, the new left-back doesnt impress me THAT much, Iniesta is doing well but makes mistakes that he ususally doesnt make, the striker is left out of play in all, ...
The two players that are on their peak here are Casillas and Ramos.

yesterday was such bad game that MOM shouldnt even be considered an honnor

Alba = ok, butI'm not "impressed" as in: he's spectacular, something each team would want. He's not what was bercalone-Alves on the other side of the pitch before this season; in that way i mean it. Otherwise he's decent, just like Capdevilla was: decent, good, not spectacular or divine.

What Nani did there was indeed beyond stupid. Alves was completely focused when he was walking towards the goal there, and he already looked a little nervous. To completely destroy his concentration there was just plain silly. Even if you've decided the order of the penalties, if something like this happens, you just have to let it happen, instead of making your teammate look like an idiot. You'd think that goes without saying, but apparently it doesn't
