Default Deportivo in Intertoto.

Is it possible that Depor will play in Intertoto Cup this year? I've read it in Marca ( but I dont know spanish, so I might be wrong) Does it mean Lendoiro know that 6th place is beyond our possiblity? Its terrible for me... What do You think?

What Marca is talking is this: The period of inscription ends in 48 hours and Deportivo isn't in the list...yet.
Lendoiro doesn't want to inscribe the club for Intertoto for the problems with the calendar, you see the competition starts in June and that will reduce the vacations of the squad, knowing that we will have some new players it will also reduce their period of adaptation.

If we play Intertoto, we wouldn't be able to play some friendlies in exotic lands as Qatar. Not much of football but lots of money. And Depor needs it (well, we also need some football but that can wait till next season).

Well, as I write this, Marca has given the news. No Qatar this year. We will be playing the Intertoto. That means Lendoiro reckons we will be finishing between the 7th and 9th position.

I would say NO for intertoto cup
The average age of our players is pretty high so i doubt if they able to afford such a long season (from july to may/june of next year) physically

I have mixed feeling about the Intertoto Cup.

I'm not really a huge fan of it but if it ends up being our last chance of getting a place in Europe, then I guess I am for it.

The fact that Lendoiro has put our name into it could be a good thing though.

Basically, the message it sends out to the players is :

You either start getting points on the board through winning games and ending up in the top 6 on merit OR you sacrifice some of your summer holidays because you'll be needed for the Intertoto.

I would rather Depor go ahead with their tour of Asia, which would help the new players adapt to the squad and of course promote the club globally.
The Intertotto would also mean less holidays for our players... fingers crossed we finnish in the top 6, and not have to play in this crap competition!

There's still a chance that the seventh position will grant direct access to the UEFA since the teams still alive in the cup are in top positions.

Please, do pray
