The upcoming game against Racing Santander is coinciding with the emergent figure of Sergio Canales, youngster that was part of exchange between Depor and Racing for Munitis and Aouate. The young 17-year-old midfielder is starting to shine and it seems that Lendoiro is already dreaming with the 50% of his rights.

The exchange of players between Deportivo and Racing Santander during the summer of 2006 gave enough material to write a book, now this book is having a new chapter as a youngster involved in the deal is making his first steps into the professional football: Sergio Canales Madrazo. He is a young offensive midfielder that’s appointed as a future talent in Spain and that’s a fixed player in Spain’s U-17 squad. He was even a crucial piece in the European championship won by Spain at the beginning of the year.

He has a professional contract with Racing that lasts until the year 2018, but Lendoiro was aware of his conditions in the year 2006, that’s why he negotiated his rights with the president of Racing, Francisco Pern?­a, during the conversations for Dudu Aouate. In the end the Israeli goalkeeper ended in A Coru?±a while Munitis returned to Santander. Antonio Tom??s was also transferred to Deportivo, but there was another clause included in the contract: the 50% of the rights over this promising player.

Canales remaining playing for the youth teams of Racing, and for the past season he was promoted to Racing B. Then his career starter to take an impulse  He debuted with the first squad on September 18 during the first-leg in UEFA against FC Honka, the match was played at El Sardinero and  the fans were delighted with his moves.

He later debuted at Primera Divisi??n for the last win of Racing over Osasuna (1-0). Game played at Reyno de Navarra (October 5) and in which the youngster shined again. He even took part of the play that ended with the winning goal of the Cantabrian team. Since both Fabril and Deportivo are facing Racing B and Racing during the weekend, the papers in both cities have been remaining the case, because Canales is now seeing as one of the main assets at Racing, an asset that would leave the 50% of the income in La Coru?±a. No matter the decision that coach Juan Ram??n L??pez Mu?±iz will take with him, the real thing is that Canales will face a Deportivo on the weekend, no matter is Fabril or Lotina’s first squad.
