Juvenile goalkeeper Francis Uzoho will train with the first team during the pre-season, the Nigerian arrived in January and the club has high hopes on him.

Last week the club announced the first two academy players that will make the pre-season with the first team, one of them is goalkeeper Francis Uzoho. More names should join the list, but the Nigerian should be the only one coming from the Juvenile section.

Uzoho landed at Deportivo in January, the scouts met him last year during the Mediterranean International Cup, a tournament organized by the Aspire Academy and that’s now a source of players for Depor’s academy. The club signed two players after that tournament, the other was Mali midfielder Famoussa Kanouté, currently playing for Juvenil A.

The Nigerian keeper and Kanouté joined the club until January due to a delay in the paperwork, and Francis was on the spotlight since the beginning. One of his first training sessions was with the first team (January 17) and since then he has been working four or five times per month with the first team’s keepers.

Initially, Francis was inscribed with Juvenil B, but ended the season been the starting goalie for the Juvenil A team performing at División De Honor and had the chance to perform in Copa Del Rey Juvenil. His height (6.43 feet tall), reflexes and security are highly valued by the coaching staff.

For next season it’s expected that he will stay at Juvenil A with the chance to have some appearances with Deportivo B at Segunda División B, at the same time he should continue training regularly with the goalkeepers at the fist team under the command of Manu Sotelo.
