Veteran Laure is leaving Deportivo after a decade with the team. He rescinded his contract and will sign for AD Alcorcón.

Laureano Sanabria ‘Laure’ is leaving Deportivo after more than a decade with the Blanquiazul club, the right-back had one more year of contract, but realized that he wasn’t going to have more chances and decided to rescind. He will now play for Segunda club AD Alcorcón.

The defender addressed the media on Wednesday in order to say good-bye, almost crying he said that, “I wanted to defend and honor this shirt in every training. Forza Depor and little more I can say. I am thankful to Deportivo for everything. They relied in me and I’m ready to help from the outside. I will watch all the games and will be pending, because I am leaving many friends on here.”

Then he explained why he is leaving, “We are searching for the best, both for me and the club. We think this is the right time to rescind, but this is only a see you soon. Last year I didn’t play too much and what I want is to play, I am hungry and want to compete. It cannot be here and I’m moving to Alcorcón, side that’s betting on me.”

Madrid-born Laure arrived to La Coruña in July of 2007 and became the first signing at Deportivo B ahead of the season 2007/08. He had been captain of Real Madrid C after been signed from Segunda B outfit Leganés. His contract was ending, so there was no fee involved when he went to Deportivo B at the same league. Quickly he became one of the pillars of the team next to Fabricio and Álex Bergantiños.

Things happened really quickly for him. Deeply-troubled Deportivo needed a right defender to replace injured Manuel Pablo in the match against Villarreal CF (January 13, 2008), and coach Lotina picked Laure for the occasion. He already announced the day before that Laure was going to start, and so it was. The defender connected with Guardado at the right side, even though the Mexican was new to this position. Depor lost the game, but the lad left a positive impression.

Laure didn’t play again that season with the first team, but it wasn’t because of negative reasons. Manuel Pablo returned and played an impressive campaign, while Barragán was also in contention. But one year later Laure made it into the first team. It was the days of the youngsters as Fabricio, Chapi, Adrián López, Laure and Xisco were all getting opportunities. But as Chapi was allowed to leave, Adrián López and Laure were given professional contracts (and midfielder Álex too). Laure signed a contract until 2011 and Lotina, who asked for his move up, quickly revealed that Laure was going nowhere next season and would stay at Deportivo despite interest of many clubs from Segunda A.

And with Manuel Pablo injured again during the start of the season 2008/2009, Laure had the chance to be a starter during the first matchdays in liga. Totally he made 18 appearances on that campaign. Laure continued at the club for the next eight seasons despite the club suffered two relegations. The Madrilenian was frequently criticized for his poor offensive skills, but stayed loyal to the club. He was a fixed starter with the team playing at Segunda, but during the years at Primera he barely played. Actually, he only played 7 games on the past campaign.

So, after a decade at the club both sides decided to part ways. Laure is the third player under contract that leaves the club during the summer window, one day before it was announced the exit of striker Oriol Riera and, at the end of last week, it was confirmed the transfer of defender Pablo Insua to the Schalke 04.

Laure played 191 liga games with Deportivo, which is the 32th best mark in the history of the club:
