The pre-season is getting to the end; in the fifth week, Depor played two friendly games, including the Teresa Herrera, while it completed six new training sessions.

Deportivo completed the fifth week in the pre-season with six training sessions and two friendly matches. After the trip to Portugal, the team rested on Monday and completed a double session on Tuesday, then it only completed one training per day.

Once again coach Pepe Mel emphasized the tactical work during the training sessions, the ball possession, the pressure on the pitch, the set-pieces, transitions defence-attack, plus the defensive deployment when the team is under pressure were the factors worked during the week.

About the friendly games, Depor traveled to the Carlos Tartiere stadium and played against Real Oviedo, which turned to be into the only draw during the current pre-season, a boring 0-0 that increased the doubts on the team, though later some were cleared during the Teresa Herrera with the team beating West Bromwich Albion (2-0).

There was a change in the squad during the week as centre-back Róber Pier left the training stage after been loaned to Levante UD. Therefore, the team ended the week composed by 23 players, plus academy lads Francis and Edu Expósito, who had continued to train with the first team.

The only injury case that continues at the first team is Carles Gil, the winger is still facing groin problems (pubalgy) and remained training apart during the week. It’s isn’t probable that the Valencian can be available for the opening game in liga against Real Madrid.
