ARRIBAS TRANSFERRED TO PUMAS

09 Dec 2017
The club announced on Friday the exit of Alejandro Arribas to Mexican club Pumas. Deportivo will collect €1.5 million with the defender signing a 2 1/2-year contract with his new club.

Alejandro Arribas is the first exit of Deportivo during the winter market. The club announced on Friday that an agreement with Mexican club Pumas has reached, the player is only pending to complete the medicals.  The report from Mexico is that Deportivo will collect €1.5 million with the defender signing a 2 1/2-year contract with his new club.

Arribas arrived to Depor for the season 2015/16; it was a zero-cost transfer from Sevilla CF. The Madrilenian immediately earned a spot at the starting squad alongside Sidnei. In his first season at Depor, he completed 31 league appearances scoring twice and seen one red card.

But after a solid first season at Depor, Arribas suddenly lost his weight at the team. Gaizka Garitano arrived with Albentosa as his reference for the centre of the defense and therefore Arribas was suddenly the third centre-back at the team, reason why he begun the liga season as a substitute.

And the in injuries, suspensions and constant errors in defence ended balancing his presence at the lineups. With the arrival of Pepe Mel, Arribas became the second choice behind Sidnei, though by the end of the season the whole defense had a flat performance, as example his big error that cost a goal in the home meeting with RCD Espanyol (May 7).
