Nine players are ending their links with Deportivo during next summer, so far the club is only interested in the continuity of three of these men and it’s in their hands to do it as there are options over them.

Starting on Tuesday, nine players currently performing for Deportivo can start negotiating their future in the short-term as they are ending their links in June of 2018. These means the 38% of the players inscribed for the current campaign.

These nine men are: goalkeepers Rubén Martínez and Costel Pantilimon, left-back Fernando Navarro, centre midfielder Fede Valverde, right winger Bruno Gama, playmaker Carles Gil, left winger Zakaria Bakkali, plus attackers Lucas Pérez and Adrián López.

Of this list, the club is only clearly interested in the continuity of Valverde, Carles Gil and Adrián López and it’s in their hands to secure their continuity. In the case of Valverde, the Uruguayan arrived loaned from Real Madrid, and he already expressed his wish to continue, though this will depend on the continuity of Depor at the elite.

The cases of Carles Gil are Adrián are tied in the sense that both players came loaned from Aston Vila FC and Porto FC respectively, and Deportivo have a buyout option in both cases (the amounts weren’t made public).

Then there’s the case of Lucas Pérez. The club did everything possible to buy the Galician attacker during last summer, but Arsenal FC refused and the only way to put him back at Depor was a loan spell. President Tino Fernández said that they will see later how to keep the player ahead of next season, but taking in mind that Lucas hasn’t matched the expectations it isn’t sure if the club will still want him.

So, apart from the case with Lucas, the club is not urged to negotiate any renewal as it happened in previous years. Actually, the opposite is taking place as the club is closer to release some of these man, like the case of Bruno Gama, who hasn’t played any minute in liga since the arrival of Parralo to the first team.
