The rival was SD Ponferradina, one of the disappointments on the season as they were among the favorites for the promotion spots, but that arrived to the game closer to relegation. Coach Carlos Terrazas relied in Iago Díaz and Yuri de Souza for the attacking positions, the latter had scored twelve goals in the tournament.

Not an easy game despite the rival didn’t create too many opportunities, the lads had problems, but paved the way through the collective game. The goals arrived in quick counterattacks that were finished with several passes before the ball ended at the back of the net.

Low-pace game at the start, both sides were having problems to step into the rival’s area and the actions turned into long throws and aerial duels without consequences. The first arrival in the game was for SD Ponferradina, it was a cross from the left that Yuri couldn’t head properly and the ball went out (8’).

The first chance to score for Fabril came at minute 11. It was a cross from Óscar and the header of Romay was saved by visiting goalie Javier Mandaluniz (11’). With the passage of the minutes Fabril started to decompose, there were a lot of poor passes, but neither the lads were suffering in defence, because SD Ponferradina didn’t create any clear chance.

Fabril were even having problems to pass the ball at their side of the pitch, but things improved since minute 30. First there was a chance in a free-kick action, Óscar hit the wall and later Caballo sent the ball out. In the next play Lucas Viña picked the ball at the left side of the area and his strong and crossed shot went out.

At minute 36, a cross from Óscar didn’t find a receiver, the loose ball was picked by Diego Caballo and his cross was blocked by Mandaluniz. The next chance for Fabril came at minute 41, Jardel assisted Óscar inside the area and he failed before Mandaluniz.

Then the goal arrived, a collective play on the right saw a combination between Romay, Óscar and Queijeiro, then the ball reached the path of Jardel, who drilled the ball into the left side of the area, Diego Caballo arrived from behind and scored with a s strong shot. Fabril could have even scored the second goal before the break, but the shot of Carlos López in a corner-kick that saved by Mandaluniz (45+1’).

The game was faster in the second half, SD Ponferradina were trying to attack and left enough room to see Fabril launching quick attacks. So, the lads were having more arrivals, but the plays weren’t ending in shots on target.

The first chance in the half was for SD Ponferradina, a counterattack led by Iago Díaz ended in a long run and his pass to Yuri was too long when One had already failed (59’). At minute 63, Óscar couldn’t end properly a play inside the area.

With the team thick in offensive positions, Munúa moved the bench and Luis Fernández replaced Jardel, who made a good game, but at this point the Portuguese seemed tired. And it was going to be the Burela-born player the one scoring the second goal. Again arrived in a collective play.

SD Ponferradina failed in the output of the ball, then Fabril launched a quick counterattack, Queijeiro assisted Romay, who later drilled the ball into the left, Caballo arrived and released a low cross that Luis Fernández met at the goal line to score his first goal on the season. Óscar could have scored the third goal minutes later, but his strong shot from long-range was saved by Mandaluniz (76’)

Fabril had the game under control at this point and Munúa made the last two substitutions with Gaizka Martínez and Sergio Ortuño entering for Carlos López and Romay. There were no more chances to score.
