New ridiculous performance by Deportivo, the team was playing for its life, but only competed for 30 minutes, it only completed one shot on target and ended allowing three goals before a rival that didn’t do too much.

Clarence Seedorf surprised as Florin Andone was left on the bench, while Michael Krohn-Dehli and Zakaria Bakkali were starters. The draw was a 4-2-3-1 with Rubén Martínez covering the goal, Juanfran Moreno covered the right side in defence, Luisinho performed on the left, with Eneko Bóveda and Fabian Schär were the centre-backs.

Krohn-Dehli was joined by Sulleyman Muntari at midfield territory, Adrián López attacked from the right wing, Bakkali did it from the left, Pedro Mosquera was the playmaker and Lucas Pérez was the centre forward.

At Getafe CF, coach José Luis Bordalás presented the expected 4-4-2 formation, though he made a late change as Emiliano Martínez replaced Guaita minutes before the kick-off. Ángel Rodríguez and Jorge Molina were the references up front.

Once again Deportivo committed suicide, it played well for thirty minutes, but later fell down and committed errors to end conceding twice before a rival that only needed to complete one shot on target.

The game started with an approximation for each side, first Mauro Arambarri missed the target after collecting the ball in a lateral free-kick (1’), in the next play Lucas ran for the ball and tried to assist Bakkali inside the area, but a defender cleared the danger.

Depor had problems to control the ball, not only for the inaccuracy of the passes at midfield, but also for the poor state of the pitch (it was raining on Wednesday and snowing on Tuesday).  Meanwhile, Getafe CF were content giving the initiative to the Galicians.

But Deportivo felt more comfortable playing on the counterattack, mainly with the long throws searching for Bakkali, who was switched into the right wing after the first minutes.  The first big chance to score came at minute 19 and it was for the locals, Ángel collected the ball at the edge of the area and his low shot was barely saved by Rubén and later Juanfran cleared the danger.

With the passage of the minutes, the Galicians started to have the ball possession, but were unable to complete a shot until Adrián headed out a cross from the left (27’).  In the counterattack Bóveda cleared the ball inside the box after a collective play by the locals.

Muntari was controlling the traffic of the ball and was essential at the moment of stealing it, but then the distractions started and Getafe were going to score twice in a matter of five minutes. First Portillo assisted Amath Ndiaye, who arrived before a too passive Rubén and his attempt was deflected by Ángel Rodríguez at the goal line.

The good minutes of Deportivo were already gone and there was more punishment, because Ángel Rodríguez released a low cross from the right and Eneko Bóveda couldn’t clear the ball properly and ended scoring an own goal.

There was no reaction from Depor in the second part, Seedorf made changes but it never had an impact in the game. Getafe were always more dangerous, it scored again and even deserved more before a team without spirit.

The final part started with a modification as Borges replaced a disappeared Krohn-Dehli, but the script of the final minutes in the first part continued as Getafe CF were close to score twice, first it was a corner-kick action in which Jorge Molina met the woodwork (48’)

Then Amath Ndiaye had the next opportunity with a shot from outside the area that Rubén cleared to corner-kick (53’). Depor were once again leaving a poor impression, it was trying to attack, but the attempts ended in nothing or in counterattacks for a Getafe CF that were closer to score.

Depor were dead and Seedorf put Andone on the field, he replaced Muntari. But the picture didn’t change. The Galicians continued to be a clear reflection of impotence, as example what happened at minute 67, neither Luisinho nor Adrián were able to complete a shot in a corner-kick action, and in the counterattack Amath Ndiaye were unable to end the play when the local fans were caressing the third goal.

The third substitution of Seedorf was the entry of Cartabia for Bakkali. The first –and only- shot on target for Depor in the game was a long-range attempt of Luisinho that was caught by local goalie Damián Martínez. It wasn’t an accident that the first shot on target lasted so long, because the visiting side never knew how to end the plays despite having the ball possession.

And then the third goal arrived, Bóveda attempted a pass and instead assisted Jorge Molina, who scored at will before Rubén. The locals even had the chance to score a fourth goal, but the header of substitute Rémy was blocked by Rubén (88’).

Disastrous game of a Depor that remain in critical condition. The “old” Deportivo is back, a team with holes in defence that has no reaction and no spirit; this time the Galicians fell down within the final five minutes of the first part, later the drought in attack continued as the Galicians only completed one shot on target.

Depor will remain penultimate and caress the Segunda División. The next game takes place soon as SD Eibar visit the Riazor on Saturday (19h30 CET).
