MATCHDAY 27: ROAD TO THE TITLE

FC Barcelona won an important match and caress the title, the drama at the bottom continues as the four bottom clubs are still dropping points.

The race for the title seems almost defined after FC Barcelona managed to defeat Atlético Madrid at the Camp Nou (1-0), now the difference between both teams in now of eight points, it doesn’t seem to be definitive, but it will be hard to surpass taking in mind that the Catalans remain undefeated on this season.

Meanwhile Real Madrid and Valencia CF won and continue to live in the Champions League spots. The Madrilenians dispatched Getafe CF (3-1), while the Valencians starred in an attractive 2-0 win over Real Betis. The difference with the fifth place is eight points and both sides will hardly miss the next edition of the biggest tournament in Europe.

The fifth place is Sevilla CF, side that dropped important points recently, but that’s coming from two straight victories, the last one over Athletic Club (2-0). The side that continues to fail is Villarreal CF. The yellow submarine has lost four of the last six games

And their latest defeat was painful for two reasons, one for taking place at home and second for been against a direct rival, Girona FC (0-2). The Catalans are the surprise of the season and are now only one point behind the Valencians.

The drama in relegation continues. Real Sociedad defeated Alavés at home (2-1) and now it’s clear that only four clubs will be in the fifth to avoid demotion. And these four sides continue to fail week after week. Málaga CF is the current bottom place and lost for the sixth time in a row, this time visiting Leganés (2-0).

Deportivo had a new disappointing game and could only get a point hosting SD Eibar (1-1). More painful were the games for Levante UD and UD Las Palmas, because both sides dropped points at the end of their meetings.

Levante UD were about to defeat RCD Espanyol, but a late goal from Léo Baptistão left them with only one point (1-1). The result cost the job to Juan Ramón López Muñiz. Meanwhile, UD Las Palmas were leading at Balaídos, but RC Celta came back and ‘Tucu’ Hernández scored a late goal to grant the three points (2-1).

MATCHDAY 28: TOUGH GAME FOR DEPOR
Deportivo is only alive at this point for the failures of other clubs, and this matchday doesn’t invite to be optimistic, because the Galicians visit one of the most in-form teams in the league: Girona FC. Meanwhile Levante UD have a more accessible visit at Getafe CF, while UD Las Palmas host a fallen Villarreal CF. Tougher is for Málaga CF, side that entertaining leaders FC Barcelona.

The matchday is completed with other six games: SD Eibar V. Real Madrid; Sevilla CF Vs. Valencia CF; RCD Espanyol Vs. Real Sociedad; Atlético Madrid Vs. RC Celta; Athletic Club Vs. CD Leganés & Alavés Vs. Real Betis.
