Depor’s coach remains confident of his team; he keeps the same speech that the victory and the goals will arrive. Girona’ coach wants to dream of Europe.

Clarence Seedorf addressed the media on Thursday’s noon. Despite the results, he believes that Deportivo are evolving and that the first victory is a matter of time. The following is a summary of the things he said.

State of the squad: “The team is fine, this was a tough day to train due the wind, but throughout the week they were attentive. We are ready to make a good game against a team that, like Getafe, has many important mechanisms in both phases, but this is a new chance.”

Nineteen men on the roster: “It’s not worthy to only leave one man behind. We will see who is ready. Luisinho and Krohn-Dehli were dragging issues, so they are cleaning their problems. We need to surpass these moments and surely they will return stronger and better.”

Girona: “I respect what they have done within the last years. They have spent many years together. We are aware of their system; in Italy I saw many teams with three men at the back. The strength of this team is the group, very similar to the last teams we faced, Eibar and Getafe. This game will allows us to show that we can adapt to the rival and at the same time keep the philosophy. I believe we have  a better motivation than Girona.”

Away sorrow: “We were competitive at Alavés and Getafe until the final minutes and we saw what happened. That’s why we made a good game against Eibar. I believe the team is starting to know their possibilities, with a defensive phase that’s conscious of what we must do, giving less chances to score to the rivals, and we still creating chances. We are missing to score in the first opportunities that we are having. We need to continue searching for the victory.”

Tested lineups in the trainings: “We are capable of using several systems, that’s why we were training other systems the other day. I believe it’s important to have this flexibility, because something can happen that can pull you to a different plan. The team can change the tactical plan.”

Defence: “In the last game we created a lot of chances at the start, and in the second half we needed to demonstrate that you know how to defend, and I liked how the players interpreted the plan, it gives you strength. I am witnessing an improvement and any team facing Depor will have to fight hard in order to score a goal against us.”

Lacking a victory? “What are we going to do? This is sports. Against Betis it should have been a draw; against Alavés also a draw, and we lost both games. We added two points and see where are we now. “

Set-pieces: “Both teams are going to be alert in this facet, we need to defend the set-pieces and also take advantage of it. We neither have suffered from this, at least since my arrival [Depor is the worst defence in set pieces as it allows a goal every 19 corners]”

Individual errors: “You don’t work these things, you just forget about them. There are similar errors everywhere, but they don’t pay the price. What we must do is to continuous working with strength. The error will be to think that these errors will take things from us. Following the lane will make us to reduce the errors, because the confidence will grow.”

Lack of goal from the strikers: “They have the ability to score goals, we already scored once with Andone and I don’t have doubts that Adrián and Lucas will be unblocked. If we look the work that you need to do in order to build up a team, it starts in the defensive phase and later continues in attack. We are also lacking confidence. I heard Andone the other day talking of the pressure. Once you are unblocked many more goals will arrive.”

Lucas: “Lucas is fine, he is improving. He isn’t defining as he should, but it’s the same for the rest of the players. We have seen that he is taking part of important plays, he is generating and taking part. It’s a matter of time. He is fighting, as everyone, for every ball and for me it’s important. Lucas isn’t the savior of the country, he just need to continue working and the goals will arrive. He isn’t the one that must score, but Depor. Still, the goals will arrive and we must persist.”

Pablo Machín addressed the media on Thursday’s noon.  He is dreaming of Europe and also warned of the potential of Depor in attack. The following is a summary of the things he said.

State of the squad: “There isn’t any novelty regarding last week, only that we count with Aday [Benitez]. This week he will be in as we have lesser risks. The rest are the same, we hope that next week Gorka [Iraizoz] could be in. The rest are fine.”

Permanence or Europe? “The permanence was our main goal, but as we always say, the fact they are doing a good job it means to open other windows, like fighting for Europe. This is a season of science fiction for us as we have chances of fighting for something that no one thought was possible.”

Deportivo: “It’s a team that will make us play in the best possible way, because they aren’t in the place where they belong, because for their squad they are a desirable team for any coach at the start of a season. Later we won’t talk of the circumstances, but they hit the post in twelve opportunities, and those twelve woodworks will make a little difference.”

“If these chances would have ended at the bottom of the net then they would be fighting for Europe, but since the ball went out they are fighting for the permanence. Only that detail makes us be careful and alert, because the rival creates chances. They aren’t materializing, but their trident up front isn’t at reach of many teams. If Arsenal paid a lot of money for Lucas it is for something, he didn’t forget to score goals. Andone is great and we already suffered him at Segunda, and Adrian has played in many teams for something. ”

Relaxation? “I will make anything possible to see this not happening. If it happens it will be for the merits of the rival, because I will take care of this. I have motivated the player for this saying that we must fight for the ambitious goal of Europe. This season will be historic and we must continue until the end.”
