Deportivo announced on Friday that Florin Andone has been transferred to Premier League club Brighton. He signs a five-year deal with The Seagulls and it should represent a €6 million transfer.

Florin Andone has been transferred to Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion. Both clubs announced the operation on Friday with The Seagulls reporting that the striker is signing a five-year deal with them.

The amount of the operation is around the €6 million. Brighton has been chasing Andone since last summer, they presented offers in August and January. It was commented at the time that there was a €20 million-offer for him, but recent reports suggest that the highest of those offers reached the €12 million (plus €1.5 for incentives), but Depor rejected it as the clause of the Romanian was €30 million. Now that the club is at Segunda, the release clause is decreased to €6 million.

It was commented in the last days that the operation was done and that it was going to be reported in July as soon as the transfer window is opened, but both sides decided to move forward and it was closed now. It allows Depor to have the money sooner and continue preparing the project for liga 1|2|3.

To have in mind that Depor has to pay the 30% of the transfer to Córdoba CF, this since Andone’s previous club still has the 30% of his rights. It means that €1.8 million are for the Andalusians and the remaining €4.2 million are for Deportivo. Andone was signed in 2016 with Depor paying between €3.5 and €4 million.

Andone landed at Depor for the season 2016/17, he covered the departure of Lucas Pérez and was the top-scorer on that campaign netting 12 goals in 37 league appearances, the number was cut in the half for the season that has just ended, mainly has he had physical problems and as Clarence Seedorf preferred other options in the last stretch of the season (6 goals in 29 liga matches).
