Third straight loan of Róber at Levante UD. Th centre-back didn’t want to stay despite the pressure of Carmelo Del Pozo and neither the Valencian club wanted to pay his release clause.

The club informed on Saturday that Róber Pier has been loaned to Levante UD ahead of the season 2018/19. It’s the third straight loan for the player at the same club. The centre-back signed last year a three-year contract (expiring in 2020).

Carmelo Del Pozo said recently that he wanted to count with Róber, but the player has preferred to stay at Levante UD. Similar was the scenario on last year after he refused to stay despite the desire of former coach Pepe Mel.

The loan agreement with Levante UD doesn’t include a buyout option, because the release clause of the player is €6 million and neither Deportivo refuse to negotiate for any amount below that clause nor Levante UD want to pay it.

Róber return to Levante UD, club where the clinched the promotion to Primera on the campaign 2016/17; on last year he played in 25 of the 38 matches in the Primera season and was the partner of Erik Cabaco at the centre of the defence. The team suffered a lot at the start of the season and Róber seemed insecure in the position, though things changed with the arrival of coach Paco López.

This is the fourth confirmed exit among the players under contract after the announced departures of Florin Andone, Emre Çolak and Luisinho. Previously, other eight men ended their contracts or loan spells: Rubén Martinez, Kóval, Fernando Navarro, Fede Valverde, Bakkali, Muntari, Adrián López and Lucas Pérez.
