Another game with a candidate for the promotion and in a stadium under reconstruction. The left-back position has been affected by the injuries and Saul is the main choice to play there.

The first defeat of the season brought the first doubts of the team’s potential, and also a concern about the influence of the injury cases hitting the team at this moment. Now Depor face another complicate game in a Riazor under reconstruction as Granada CF play there on Monday (21h00 CET).

The injury cases affecting the team might not be a big number, but the point is that they are hitting hard certain positions that complicate things for coach Natxo González. If last week it was the striker’s role, now it is the left-back position.

Sebastián Dubarbier sustained a grade II muscle injury on his right thigh during the Copa game with Real Zaragoza, only three days later Diego Caballo suffered a grade II muscle injury on the right thigh during the liga game at AD Alcorcón. Both men are expected to be out between three and four weeks.

This situation leaves Saúl García as the only left-back available at the team, Saúl knows the league pretty well and surely can handle the position for a month, the problem is his shape. The coach didn’t give him opportunities so far; actually, he was negotiating a possible exit at the end of the transfer window, now he is tested as a possible starter. Eneko Bóveda has also been tested there during the trainings.

Saúl has been at Depor since 2015, but he has never played a league game with Los Blanquiazules. His whole participation has been reduced to friendly games and three appearances in Copa Del Rey, the last one in 2017 (2-3 win at UD Las Palmas).

At least there are good news with the return of Quique González. The striker picked a muscle injury during the game at CD Tenerife (September 1) and has been training with the group since Monday. He received the medical okay to play on Saturday and could be a starter against Granada CF. Borja Valle (toe knock) will remain out. The other casualty for the game is Michael Krohn-Dehli, the Danish midfielder is suspended after been sent off against AD Alcorcón.

Granada CF is having a strong start in this league, after the disappointment for not conquering the promotion on last year, the team is now coached by Diego Martínez and is one of the four sides that remain undefeated. The fans are so positive that the club had to re-open the season-subscribers campaign for one additional week.

The coach is having three doubts for Monday, centre midfielder Nico Aguirre plus strikers Ángel Montoro and Adrián Ramos (both muscle) haven’t been training with the team and could miss the game with Depor.

There are also the cases of striker Ruben Sánchez and playmaker Fran Rico. Both weren’t inscribed for the season after suffering serious knee injuries, their situation will be assessed during the winter window.
