PREVIEW: RAYO MAJADAHONDA – DEPORTIVO (LIGA)

02 Dec 2018
Natxo González makes changes as Deportivo try to stay living among the first two places; the rival is playing for the first time at their stadium.

Referee: Daniel Jesús Trujillo Suárez
Kick-off: 12h00 CET (Cerro Del Espino)

STATISTICS: DEBUT
Rayo Majadahonda is debuting this season at Segunda División and this is going to be the first second-tier match to be played at Cerro Del Espino (capacity for 3,376 spectators). Until now Rayo Majadahonda was playing at the Wanda, this since Cerro Del Espino was under remodeling. The improvements will be ready until January, but La Liga authorized to play since now.

The Madrilenians didn’t have a bad record at the Wanda stadium, they won 4 of the 7 games played there and the 13 points added is the 12th best mark in the league. Last season, they only lost twice there: 1-2 Vs. Coruxo FC and 0-1 Vs. Fabril.

Meanwhile, a lot has been said about the performance of Deportivo playing away from the Riazor. There are complaints for it, but the true is that the Galicians have a strong record adding 11 points after 8 visits, which is the second-best mark in the league only below Albacete Balompié (14).

DEPORTIVO: CHANGES
Coach Natxo González is planning at least four changes at the lineup, first for the casualties of David Simón and Domingos Duarte, and later because he wants to reinforce midfield territory. Eneko Bóveda and Michelle Somma are the ones stepping in for the suspended men.

The Italian centre-back is making his second appearance in the league after the 2-0 Vs. CF Reus, while the Basque side defender has only made five appearances in the competition, the last on one month ago (the 2-0 win over FC Reus, October 27).

About the changes at midfield, Edu Expósito will be stepping in for Krohn-Dehli and Carles Gil is expected to start before Cartabia in the playmaking function, the latter is a last-minute casualty due to a new injury. The coach also tested between Thursday and Friday with Didier Moreno replacing Vicente Gómez, but the Canarian midfielder should be the one starting in the game.

Team news: There are five casualties for the match. Playmaker Fede Cartabia underwent scans after suffering a knock against CA Osasuna and it was detected a muscle problem on his right thigh. Centre-back Domingos Duarte and right-back David Simón are suspended; then playmaker Pedro Sánchez and left-back Sebastián Dubarbier are the other players at the injury room. Krohn-Dehli is out for tactical reasons.

Man to watch: Centre-back Michelle Somma. The Italian defender already replaced Pablo Mari successfully, now he has to do the same in the place of Domingos Duarte, considered as one of the best centre-back in the league, and has to do it with the team playing on the road.

Picked players: (18) Dani Giménez, Adrián Ortolá (goalkeepers); Gerard Valentín, Eneko Bóveda, Michelle Somma, Pablo Mari, Saúl García, Diego Caballo (defenders); Edu Expósito, Pedro Mosquera, Vicente Gómez, Álex Bergantiños, Didier Moreno, Carles Gil (midfielders); Quique González, Carlos Fernández, Borja Valle & Christian Santos (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (4-3-1-2) Dani Giménez – Bóveda, Pablo Mari, Somma, Saúl – Mosquera, Vicente Gómez, Edu Expósito – Carles Gil – Quique González, Carlos Fernández.

RAYO MAJADAHONDA: ORDER AND SIMPLICITY
This Madrilenian club s playing for the first time at Segunda División after been founded in 1976. Instead of attempting big changes in the adventure, they decided to keep a low profile in the irruption at Liga 1|2|3. The base continues to be the same one of Segunda B, no one has a contract lasting beyond this season (with the exception of right-back Isaac Carcelén “Iza”, 2020), and there are only four foreign players (French Enzo Zidane, Argentine   Fede Varela, Peruvian Jeisson Martínez and Uruguayan Nicolás Schiappacasse).

And the formula is working for coach Antonio Iriondo, because despite the injury problems the team is four points above the relegation zone and is growing. After losing the first two matches in the competition, Los Rayistas have reacted and haven’t visited again the drop zone.

Team news: Playmaker Enzo Zidane is recovered from a hamstring problem suffered in the previous game against CD Tenerife. Centre-backs David Andújar and Héctor Verdés are also fit to play, but centre midfielders Óscar Valentín and Luso Delgado, plus centre-back Rafa López are out injured.

Man to watch: Attacker Aitor García. This centre midfielder has been reconverted into a centre forward and leads Segunda in terms of shots attempted (33). He is one of the three men at the squad that have played in the 15 matches disputed until this point and is the top-scorer of the team with four goals scored, two of them netted within the last two matchdays.

Picked players: (21) Basilio Sancho, José Salcedo, Ander Cantero (goalkeepers); Benito Ramírez, David Morillas, David Andújar, Jorge García, Ernesto Galán, Isaac Carcelén ‘Iza’, Héctor Verdés, Francisco Varela (defenders); Enzo Zidane, Fede Varela, Jesús Rodríguez ‘Echu’, Álvaro Bustos, Adri Guerrero (midfielders); Jeisson Martínez, Nicolás Schiappacasse, Toni Martínez, Aitor García & Aitor Ruibal (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (5-3-2) Basilio – Varela, Morillas, Andújar, Ernesto Galán, Benito – Fede Varela, Zidane, Iza - Aitor García, Aitor Ruibal.
