Carlos Fernández is missing the game due to an injury, so Borja Valle is replacing him. CD Numancia arrive with new owners and still trying to find the path to consistency.

Referee: Dámaso Arcediano Monescillo
Kick-off: 13h00 CET (Riazor)

Deportivo have spent 11 matchdays without losing, it’s the best mark for the club on this century tied with the one of the Segunda campaign 2011/12. If the team is able to extend it to 12, then it will tie the mark of the Primera season 1992/93, the one of the Super Depor birth, and it will become the 6th best mark in the history of the club. The best unbeaten streak in the history of Deportivo is 22 between the end of the season 1993/94 and the beginning of the 1994/95 campaign.

The Galicians have only dropped one point after seven liga games at the Riazor; a victory in this game will allow to tie AD Alcorcón as the best local teams in the league (The Madrilenians have added 22 in 8 games at home). Meanwhile, CD Numancia have only added four points on the road and is one of the five teams that haven’t won yet playing away from home (the others are CD Tenerife, Elche CF, Gimnástiic Tarragona and Córdoba CF).

This is the sixth visit of CD Numancia to the Riazor, their only victory in A Coruña came in their first visit for the season 1999/2000 (0-1). Since then Los Numantinos have added two draws and suffered three defeats.

One of the keys for the current positive run of Deportivo is how the Galicians are controlling the matches, no matter how many problems they could be facing with the rivals, the pitch and even with the referees the situation always seems to be under control.  And that’s demonstrated with the fact that, after 16 matchdays, Depor have only be trailing in the score for 127 minutes.

That’s the second-best mark in the league, only below AD Alcorcón (52), and it’s also the second best-mark among the first two-tiers in Spain. The best mark at Primera is for Atlético Madrid, side that has only lost once and that’s been trailing only for 128 minutes, just one more minute than Deportivo.

Team news: There are 20 players in the roster for the game, because there were players with issues on Friday. Carlos Fernández didn’t make it into the final cut due to a hamstring injury. Gerard Valentín and Diego Caballo didn’t end the session on Friday and only the latter entered the roster. Pedro Sánchez trained apart in the last session and surprisingly is in consideration for the meeting. In the end there are only three men at the injury room as Carlos Fernández and Valentín join CartabiaSebastián Dubarbier received the medical okay, but is out for tactical reasons.

Man to watch: Striker Borja Valle. It has been an unstable season for the 26-year-old attacker, the good form of Carlos Fernández and Quique González, plus his suspension for four games after been sent off against Córdoba CF, have reduced his appearances to only six games on this season, now he will be a starter for the first time since September as Carlos Fernández is injured. Despite only 259 minutes this campaign, he already scored twice.

Picked players: (20) Dani Giménez, Adrián Ortolá (goalkeepers); David Simón, Eneko Bóveda, Michelle Somma, Domingos Duarte, Pablo Mari, Saúl García, Diego Caballo (defenders); Edu Expósito, Pedro Mosquera, Vicente Gómez, Álex Bergantiños, Krohn-Dehli , Didier Moreno, Pedro Sanchez, Carles Gil (midfielders); Quique González, Borja Valle & Christian Santos (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (4-3-1-2) Dani Giménez – David Simón, Domingos Duarte, Pablo Mari, Saúl – Mosquera, Vicente Gómez, Edu Expósito – Carles Gil – Quique González, Borja Valle.

At the end of October, it was announced that the new main shareholder of CD Numancia is Football Newco 18, a company related to the sporting website SportYou. The operation valued the club in €10 million and targets to keep the first team competing among the first two tiers in Spain plus increasing the international market for Los Numantinos.

But this takeover isn’t planning in changing the direction of the club, actually it tries to extend it. After all CD Numancia is only one of the few clubs among Primera and Segunda without debt, it has earned money in 13 of the last 14 seasons and their financial situation is healthy.

The financial stability has allowed to build up a team with enough men to compete (the current has a full room of 25 men), the problem is the quality as coach Aritz López has struggled to find results. The team is closer to relegation and with the pending issue of the away matches, a department where they still searching for their first victory.

Team news: Striker Guillermo Fernández was recovered from an ankle injury, but didn’t make it to the final list for the game. So, Higinio Marín will start in attack. Left-back Adrián Ripa and winger Dani Nieto are also out injured, while new signing Derik Osede wasn’t picked for the meeting.

Man to watch: Playmaker Fran Villalba. He is only 20, but is already considered as the player with more vison for CD Numancia, the brain of a team searching for an identity. He is a product of Valencia CF academy and already scored twice after 15 appearances. Villalba only missed one game this season after been sent off against Sporting Gijón (September 16).

Picked players: (18) Juan Carlos Sánchez, Gaizka Campos (goalkeepers); Carlos Gutiérrez, Markel Etxeberria, Unai Medina, Pichu Atienza (defenders); Pape Diamanka, Alberto Escassi, Fran Villalba, Kako Sanz, Marc Mateu, Alberto Noguera, Yaw Yeboah, Alain Oyarzun, Nacho Sánchez (midfielders); Borja Viguera, Higinio Marín, Jordi Sánchez (atttacers)

Predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Juan Carlos – Medina, Atienza, Carlos Gutiérrez, Mateu – Escassi, Diamanka – Nacho Sánchez, Fran Villalba, Yeboah – Higinio.
