REVIEW: NAVALCARNERO 2 – FABRIL 0 (SEGUNDA B)

24 Dec 2018
New defeat for a Fabril that ends 2018 in a compromised position. A penalty put the game uphill and, in the second half, when the team wasted a good chance to tie the game, Navalcarnero scored the second goal.

BEFORE THE GAME
Coach Sergio Pellicer made changes at the lineup for the last game of the year, Jorge Valin was the main one performing as a left-back defender, the Juvenil A player was debuting this season. Uruguayan Guillermo May was also a starter on the left wing.

The draw was a 4-2-3-1 figure. Pedro López was the starting goalie, Blas Alonso covered the right side in defence, Valin played on the left, Steve One and Quique Fornos were the centre-backs. Carlos López and Gaizka Martínez were the centre midfielders, May attacked from the left wing, Víctor García did it from the right, Joni Montiel was the playmaker and Uxío Dapena was the centre forward.

CDA Navalcarnero is a direct rival for the salvation, the Madrilenians were five points above before this game and arrived after adding two points in the previous three games. Coach Fran Garrido was relying in Joaquin Cerda for the goals, the striker had netted seven goals before this meeting.

THE MATCH
Big setback for a Fabril that continue to sink at the standings. The lads didn’t play a bad game, but allowed goals in key moments of the meeting. Fabril started the game dominating and having the first chance to score through a header of Uxio in a lateral free-kick that went close to the post (8’).

And the side that scored first was CDA Navalcarnero, this after a penalty that was converted by Joaquin Cerda. It was a distraction of One leaving a loose ball inside the area, Joaquin tried to reach it and keeper Pedro López ended committing the foul.

The Galician lads continued dominating the meeting after the goal, but they were unable to break the local deadlock. Once again Montiel was the player making different things, but it wasn’t enough to create scoring opportunities.

It was until minute 43 that Fabril completed a shot on target and it was debutant Jorge Valin the one making the play. He picked the ball at the edge of the area dribbled two rivals and released a low shot that was deflected by local goalie Diego Conde.

The final part started with the entry of Iago Gandoy for Steve One, the move pushed Gaizka Martínez into the centre of the defence, while Gandoy was trying to bring ideas at midfield.

But it was CDA Navalcarnero the side having the initiative in this half, though the first chance to score was for Uxío Dapena, who was unable to shot on target from inside a box as a defender blocked the attempt (55’).

And from the possible equalizer the game went to the final 2-0, again through Joaquin Cerda, who fired a rocket from 25-meters that surprised Pedro López. The goal killed any hope for reaction in the visiting side, because CDA Navalcarnero continued dominating the actions.

The second substitution at Fabril was the entry of Pedro Correia for Guillermo May, which was followed by the entry of Juanje for Blas Alonso, modifications that didn’t improve the offensive game.

AFTER THE GAME
Same old story for Fabril, the team had chances to score, but it didn’t materialize them and fell down against a rival that didn’t need too much to win the game.  Fabril end the year with its 11th defeat after 18 matchdays. The lads are now 8 points below safety with only one game remaining in the first round. The first meeting in 2019 is the visit of Valladolid B to Abegondo (January 6, 12h00 CET).
