Important game in thee race for promotion, both Deportivo and Granada are missing key players at midfield. Vicente Gómez and Krohn-Dehli are out for the Galicians.

Deportivo wasted a good chance to be the leader at Segunda after the disappointing draw with CD Tenerife, now it faces a tough game as it travels to Granada CF (Los Cármenes, Sunday, 18h00 CET), it’s a crucial game against a direct rival for the direct promotion.

Coach Natxo González is not having good news before the game. Perhaps the only ones are that Saúl Garcia and Fede Cartabia are fit to play. The left-back joined the trainings this week after missing the previous two games due to a hamstring problem. Meanwhile, the Argentine playmaker is not facing muscle issues and has even been tested as a starter.

But the bad news are prevailing, because key men in the creation of game are out. Starting with Vicente Gómez; the Canarian midfielder is returning from a suspension, but he was also dragging a muscle problem that prevented him to train normally on this week. And on Thursday the scans made to him detected a sprain on his right foot.

The bad news continued with Michael Krohn-Dehli, the Danish midfielder underwent scans and it was determined that he has an Achilles injury on the left leg. He could be out for a month after already skipping the previous two games due to a different muscle problem. The other two men out of the game at Granada CF are playmaker Pedro Sánchez (muscle) and striker Carlos Fernández (hamstring).

These casualties leave the coach only with a handful number of choices for the offensive positions at midfield. Natxo is even contemplating to switch the draw as a 4-2-3-1 and a 4-1-4-1 figure have been tested during the trainings.

Granada CF arrive to this important game lying at the second position, despite their position the numbers haven’t been too good recently. The last 1-0 loss at CA Osasuna cut an unbeaten streak of seven games, but the fact is that in the previous five games they only got one victory.

The problem now is the injuries, mainly the ones affecting midfield territory. Coach Diego Martínez  is not counting with Ángel Montoro, the second best scorer at the team (5, one of the goals at the Riazor in the first round), is out with a shoulder injury, while his replacement, Jose Antonio González got injured in the game at CA Osasuna and is also out of the game with Depor (thigh injury).

Another important injury is left-back Álex Martínez, he suffered an Achilles injury back in December and will return until next month, while playmaker Fran Rico is missing the entire season due to a knee ligaments injury.

Centre midfielder Nico Aguirre should be claiming the spot at midfield, he was dragging a knock from a previous game, but should be fit to play. Meanwhile, playmaker Ramón Azeez should be available too after been signed on deadline day coming from CD Lugo.
