Temporada 2015–16 del Deportivo
The 2015–16 campaign saw Deportivo de La Coruña consolidate their La Liga status with a 13th-place finish — their most comfortable mid-table performance since the Super Dépor era. Manager Víctor Fernández remained in charge for a second consecutive season, and the team showed clear signs of improvement.
The season belonged above all to Lucas Pérez. The winger from A Coruña — playing for his hometown club — had a breakthrough campaign of spectacular quality, scoring 17 Liga goals and establishing himself as one of the most dangerous attackers in the division. His performances attracted major interest from across Europe, and in the summer of 2016 he would depart for Arsenal in a deal worth over €17 million — the highest transfer fee received by Deportivo since the peak of the Super Dépor era.
Riazor witnessed some memorable moments: Deportivo beat Real Madrid 2–0 in February in a result that briefly disrupted the title race. It was precisely the kind of giant-killing performance that reminds Spanish football why the Galician club’s home ground remains one of the most feared in La Liga.
