Deportivo 1991–92 Season

After 34 years in the wilderness — oscillating between the Primera and Segunda División — Deportivo de La Coruña returned to Spain’s top flight in 1991–92 under manager Arsenio Iglesias. The Galician football legend had restored the club to the promised land, beginning what would become the most glorious period in the club’s history.

The first season back was a statement of intent. Deportivo finished 6th in La Liga — a remarkable achievement for a promoted side, and a clear signal that Arsenio had built something more substantial than a mere survival unit. The squad featured Galician talent supplemented by astute acquisitions, playing direct, energetic football that was immediately popular at Riazor.
