Manager: Javier Irureta
Despite the departure of several key figures from the squad, Deportivo de La Coruña produced another exceptional European campaign in 2002–03. The Champions League quarter-finals were reached, with Deportivo defeating Juventus along the way — one of the most admired clubs in Europe — before being eliminated by AC Milan in a two-legged tie that would be dramatically reversed the following season.
Javier Irureta’s departure from the dugout at the end of the 2001–02 season meant Deportivo were now under new management, but the squad retained sufficient quality to compete at the highest level. The season demonstrated the depth of the Super Dépor project — not dependent on any single manager, but built on a strong collective foundation.
