Deportivo 2006–07 Season

Survival was the objective and survival was achieved in 2006–07 — but the manner of it represented a significant fall from the heights of the Super Dépor era. Deportivo de La Coruña finished in the lower reaches of the table, the financial constraints of the previous decade’s ambition now creating real difficulties.

The squad was a shadow of the one that had won the title in 2000 and reached the Champions League semi-final in 2004. Youth development and careful management would be required to prevent the decline becoming terminal.
