Deportivo 2013–14 Season
One year after a second relegation from La Liga, Deportivo de La Coruña bounced back with a focused, disciplined 2013–14 Segunda División campaign. Manager José Luis Martí instilled an organised defensive structure that conceded just 38 goals across 42 matches — the foundation of their promotion charge.
The squad was leaner than in the Super Dépor years but more cohesive: Luisinho provided creativity from midfield, while the Portuguese winger’s 10 goals made him the club’s most influential attacker. The defensive solidity — anchored by experienced campaigners — made Deportivo the second-meanest defence in the division.
Finishing runners-up with 72 points, Deportivo secured automatic promotion back to La Liga at the first attempt. The return to the top flight was celebrated across A Coruña — though the club knew that the financial gap between Deportivo and the established Primera División sides had widened significantly since the Super Dépor era.
