Deportivo 2014–15 Season

Deportivo de La Coruña returned to La Liga for the 2014–15 season after a single year in Segunda División, and the primary objective — survival — was achieved, but only after a nervous final stretch. Manager Víctor Fernández guided the side to 15th place with 43 points, finishing seven points clear of the relegation zone.

The season was defined by pragmatism rather than ambition. With a limited budget and a squad assembled largely on loan and free transfers, Deportivo needed to rely on team organisation and home form at Riazor. Lucas Pérez — a pacey, technically adept winger — was the standout performer with 7 league goals, offering a glimpse of the quality that would later attract attention from Arsenal.

Estadio Riazor remained a difficult venue for opponents, and it was the home record that ultimately secured survival. Deportivo’s away form, however, was poor — they claimed just 3 wins from 19 away matches — a pattern that would continue to define their subsequent seasons in the top flight.
