The final La Liga season — at least for the foreseeable future. Deportivo de La Coruña were relegated from Primera División for the third time in a decade after finishing bottom of the table in 2018–19. The departure from the top flight, confirmed in May 2019, heralded an even darker chapter: within two years, the club would suffer a second consecutive relegation, dropping into the third tier for the first time in their history.

The 2018–19 season was a grim campaign of struggle and decline. The squad, assembled on a limited budget after promotion, lacked the quality to compete against established Primera División sides. The fans at Riazor remained defiant throughout, but even their famed noise and passion could not compensate for the quality gap.

Deportivo’s last La Liga season, for now, ended without dignity or achievement — a painful conclusion to a cycle that had seen the club go from Champions League semi-finalists to third-tier football in 15 years. The rebuilding project would take several more seasons of patience.
