Deportivo 2025–26 Season

The season that ended eight years of waiting. Deportivo de La Coruña finished the 2025–26 Segunda División as runners-up with 77 points from a 22-11-9 record, securing direct promotion behind champions Racing Santander and returning to La Liga for the first time since 2017–18.

Antonio Hidalgo, appointed on 10 June 2025 as successor to Óscar Gilsanz, gave the team the shape its young core had been waiting for: a disciplined defensive structure, aggressive wing-back play and a set-piece threat that travelled well. Dépor topped the table for several weeks in the autumn, with the 4–0 home win over Huesca on 19 September 2025 among the division’s statement results. Nine defeats in 42 rounds made it the most reliable Deportivo season in over a decade.

Yeremay Hernández led the scoring with 11 league goals and added 10 assists, confirming his status as the project’s defining player. The attack produced 65 goals; the defence conceded 44, the foundation of the promotion.

Promotion was sealed away from home: a 2–0 win at Real Valladolid on 25 May 2026, on the penultimate matchday, sent thousands of travelling supporters into celebration at the José Zorrilla while María Pita square filled back home in A Coruña.
